LymeBay-Oct2011

Seasearch weekend in Lyme Bay blessed with glorious weather for my first visit here

Gorgeous anemones

Trumpet anemones (Aptasia mutabilis) with more encrusted piddocks and what looks like a lurking baked-bean squirt (Dendrodoa grossularia, top left)

Gorgeous anemones

Trumpet anemones (Aptasia mutabilis) - "nationally scarce but locally common", definitely the latter...!

Starfish in the wars

A rather mangled Common starfish (Asterias rubens) re-growing arms...

More unobtrusive anemones...

Isozoanthus sulcatus (peppercorn anemones) - very small but quite a distinctive colour...

Beady-eyed attention

Well-disguised queen scallop (Aquipecten opercularis)

Fish!

Badly-photographed fish - male (fg) and female (top) cuckoo wrasse (Labrus mixtus), lurking bib (Trisopterus luscus), showing why I don't normally bother to try to snap them!
